Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan with EAEU countries grows

The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan with the EAEU countries for the first seven months of 2023 amounted to $8.7 billion, which is $500 million more than the same period last year, according to information from the Uzbekistan Statistical Agency, Sputnik reports.

For January - July 2023, the export volume reached $3 billion, while the import volume was $5.7 billion.

The majority of the foreign trade turnover traditionally comes from Russia - $5.3 billion ($4.8 billion for the same period in 2022).

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an international organization of regional economic integration, possessing international legal personality, established by the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union of May 29, 2014.

Currently, the EAEU includes five countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. The EAEU ensures the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor, as well as the implementation of coordinated, harmonized, and unified policies in various economic sectors.

Since December 11, 2020, Uzbekistan has held the status of observer within the EAEU.
