Former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev was released from colony, Kabar news agency reports.
The Judicial Collegium of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic canceled the verdict against Almazbek Atambayev due to newly discovered circumstances.
Thus, the criminal case will be considered again in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
“All criminal cases against me are contrived and sewn with white thread,” Atambayev told reporters after released.
Answering a question about his health, he said that he urgently needed treatment. “I need to be treated abroad. But I'll be back as always. I'll be back,” the former president joked.
In summer of 2020, the Pervomaisky Court sentenced former President Almazbek Atambayev to 11.2 years in prison for the illegal release of criminal authority Aziz Batukaev.
