A high-level meeting of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for the sake of peace, security, and sustainable development was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
According to the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was attended by representatives of member countries of the Group, including heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as leaders of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic and consular missions abroad.
Participants highlighted the effectiveness of the Group, evidenced by its steady expansion.
The parties discussed the development of a Global Security Strategy based on the principles of the UN Charter and universally recognized norms of international law.
The participants agreed to continue implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by integrating the principles of neutrality into national and international strategies, the source notes.
On the same day, Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received a congratulatory letter from Qatar’s ruling family member Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Thani on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. The letter emphasized the significant role of Turkmenistan’s neutral status in ensuring peace, security, and stability at the regional and international levels, TDH reports.
"Taking this opportunity, I wish Your Excellency robust health, immense happiness, a long life, and success in your responsible duties as the head of Turkmenistan. I also wish the fraternal Turkmen people happiness, well-being, and prosperity under your wise leadership," the message reads.
