Kazakhstan ranks third among Uzbekistan's reliable foreign trade partners, stated Ravshan Nazarov, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Sputnik-Uzbekistan reports.
Nazarov discussed the trade situation during a videoconference between Tashkent and Astana, where the prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were examined.
"Kazakhstan has been the third-largest foreign trade partner of Uzbekistan for many years. According to the results of 2023, Kazakhstan accounted for 7% of Uzbekistan's total foreign trade, with exports making up more than 5.5% and imports almost 8%," the expert said.
According to him, Uzbekistan supplies Kazakhstan with a wide range of goods, such as machinery, equipment, food products, finished products, chemicals, non-food raw materials, and industrial goods.
"In recent years, the share of finished products in the physical volumes of exports and imports between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan has been increasing, which is very good and positive," Nazarov noted.
