The situation with informal employment distorts the real state of the labor market in Kazakhstan, stated Svetlana Zhakupova, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan, at the Ministry's meeting, Zakon.kz reports.

"According to the National Statistics Bureau, in 2022, the total wage fund amounted to 31.5 trillion tenge. According to the ministry's information systems, it is confirmed only at 16 trillion or slightly less than 51%. This is from the sums transferred as pension contributions to the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund (UAPF). This indicates that almost half of the labor market is in the shadow," said Svetlana Zhakupova.

She noted that the Ministry, to address the situation, plans to integrate the information systems of central government bodies, including the Ministries of National Economy, Finance, Industry and Construction, and Agriculture.

As a result, each project developed by a central government body will be included in a unified state planning system.

Also, during the meeting on February 13, 2024, Svetlana Zhakupova reported that Kazakhstan is forming a unified digital system to monitor labor migration.
