ast winter, Uzbekistan faced serious problems in the electric power industry. One of the directions to change the situation is the development of alternative sources of generation, in particular, the construction of wind farms. China, which has unique competencies in the construction of solar and wind stations, as well as in the production of power grid and transformer equipment, can act as a key partner of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
AN Podrobno.uz recalls that the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum with Chinese companies China Huadian Overseas Investments, China National Electric Engineering Company (CNEEC) and SANY Renewable Energy to study the possibilities of building wind farms with a capacity of up to 1000 MW in the Jizzakh region. The cost of this project is estimated at one billion dollars.
According to CNEEC Deputy President Li Zhigang, the potential of Uzbekistan in the field of green energy is huge, so the main thing is to use it correctly.
“There are three important reasons why Chinese companies are investing in Uzbekistan's energy sector. Most importantly, China's Belt and Road Initiative is compatible with Uzbekistan's new energy development strategy. Secondly, Uzbekistan has excellent conditions for the development of renewable energy sources such as solar energy and wind energy. Thirdly, Chinese companies, including ours, have rich experience in this area, and we are ready to develop green energy in Uzbekistan together with our partners,” the Chinese businessman said.
