The Islamic Development Bank has allocated an additional $90.15 million to Turkmenistan for a project in the field of maritime transport, Islamic Finance News reports.

It is bout the construction of three ships: two ro-ro ships (a cargo ship that transports goods on a wheeled basis - cars, railway cars, trailers, etc. - HT note) and one dry cargo ship, the portal says.

In March 2022, Turkmenistan applied for $135.25 million in funding from the IDB to cover the cost of the Maritime Transport Development Project.

In addition to the IDB, the construction of ships is also co-financed by the OPEC International Development Fund, which allocated $45 million to Turkmenistan a year ago.
