Nearly 89% of the newly created jobs in Kyrgyzstan in 2023 were formed in the so-called informal sector of the country's economy, stated the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, Daniyar Amaneldiev, during a meeting in the Cabinet of Ministers.

The government meeting addressed issues related to the creation of new jobs. The head of the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan informed the Cabinet about the impact of economic growth on the labor market and employment. In particular, he mentioned that the contribution of labor capital to the overall economic growth over the last two years averaged 2%.

During the first nine months of 2023, Kyrgyzstan created 90,533 new jobs. Of these, 10,000 positions were generated in enterprises and organizations in the formal sector of the economy, while over 80,500 were in the informal sector, as announced by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan.

The informal economy in Kyrgyzstan persists and is concentrated in specific sectors of the economy, particularly in trade and services, according to the Ministry of Economy.

During the same meeting, the government announced plans to create 250,000 jobs in Kyrgyzstan this year.
