In Tajikistan, more than 83% of population covered by digital broadcasting

The coverage of the population in Tajikistan through digital broadcasting in 2023 reached 83.4%, and this indicator will be increased in 2024, Nurdin Said, the Chairman of the Committee on Television and Radio of Tajikistan said, Khovar reports.

In 2023, as part of the implementation of the fourth stage of the "State Program for the Development of Digital Television Broadcasting in Tajikistan for 2020-2024," the State Unitary Enterprise "Teleradiocom" completed preparatory and technical work on radio and television stations, where digital transmitters are planned to be installed.

To implement this program, specialists from the company "Teleradiocom" put into operation 14 radio and television stations in the villages of Rasht, Muminabad, Nurabad, Vanch, Shamsiddini Shohin, Shughnon, and Rushan districts, as well as the city of Isfara.

Geographically, Tajikistan is located in the mountainous region of Central Asia. Almost 90% of the country's territory is situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters or more, and the rural population constitutes more than 70% of the country. Additionally, a significant portion resides in the mountainous regions of the country.
