The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, considers it important to increase the capacity of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) to increase the volume of oil throughput, TASS reported with reference to the press service of Kazakhstan Government following a meeting with CPC General Director Nikolai Gorban.

"An important factor is the increase in the throughput capacity of the pipeline, which, of course, is the transportation of an increased volume of oil from Kazakhstan," the report says.

CPC plays an important role for the oil industry in Kazakhstan, so its sustainable use is in the focus of attention. “Last year, there was a restriction on CPC activities related to the distribution of remote private devices at the marine terminal. The repair was successfully completed, and today all restrictions have already been lifted. At the same time, it is important to take all possible measures to prevent the situation in the future,” the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan explained.

In turn, Gorban noted that CPC is implementing all the necessary measures to ensure the stable operation of the oil pipeline and ensure the safety of equipment. "In addition, the successful implementation of the program for the development of development bottlenecks at the end of 2022 will increase the throughput of the pipeline system to about 72.5 million tons of oil per year on Kazakhstani territory," the press service said.

Following the meeting, Smailov spoke in detail about the fact that the government of Kazakhstan is ready for further development of all resources.

The CPC pipeline system is one of the most important investment projects in the energy sector in the CIS. The length of the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. Most of Kazakhstan's export oil is transported along this route. The CPC Marine Terminal includes remote berthing capabilities that provide security to ensure the safety of tankers at a considerable distance from the coast, including in adverse weather conditions.
