The inflationary background in Kyrgyzstan remains relatively moderate and reflects the main trends of recent months, said the official representative of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Aida Karabayeva, 24.kg reports.

Since the beginning of 2023, consumer prices have increased by 2.8% (as of February 17). In annual terms, inflation was 15.9%. The current inflation shows a seasonal increase in prices for fruits and vegetables, as well as the continuation of the influence of secondary effects of previously established inflation factors. Volatile prices in the world commodity markets, an increase in a number of administered prices (tariffs) remain, as before, pro-inflationary factors.

"The continuing high uncertainty in the external environment remains a predetermining factor in the development of the economic situation in Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, the monetary policy of the National Bank is still aimed at reducing inflation," Aida Karabaeva said.
