On September 23, 2026, the Second International Textile Forum "Tajikistan 2026" opened in the capital of Tajikistan. It was organized by the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan with the support of the government and the International Textile Federation, Avesta.tj reported.
The event brought together government and business representatives from 15 countries, as well as CIS leaders. Participants focused on attracting foreign investment, integrating green technologies and artificial intelligence, and implementing the Concept for the Development of Cooperation between CIS States in Light Industry.
At the opening, Tajikistan's Deputy Prime Minister Usmonali Usmonzoda and Minister of Industry Sherali Kabir announced the country's readiness for large-scale technological modernization of the sector. CIS Deputy Secretary General Ilkhom Nematov emphasized the industry's key role in ensuring sustainable economic growth and employment. Following the thematic sessions, a package of agreements and memoranda aimed at expanding exports and deepening industrial cooperation is planned to be signed.
The forum marks the transition of the Tajik economy from raw material (cotton) exports to the creation of high-value-added clusters that guarantee macroeconomic stability and new jobs. Aligning national initiatives with the CIS 2025 Concept strengthens Dushanbe's status as a key textile hub in Central Asia and accelerates the attraction of direct investment to the region.
