Investments in Tajikistan from Russia reached $1.5 billion

Trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 13% and has a stable upward trend, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said at a meeting with Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda in Dushanbe, TASS reports.

The Russian government delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Khusnullin arrived in Tajikistan the day before.

“In the economic sphere, Russia is one of the leading trading partners of Tajikistan, the trade turnover for the year increased by more than 18%, since the beginning of this year, according to the results of the first quarter, it has grown by 13% and I think that it also has a stable upward trend,” said Khusnullin.

The total volume of accumulated Russian investments in the economy of Tajikistan amounted to 130 billion rubles, or about $1.6 billion. More than 300 companies with Russian participation operate in Tajikistan, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister said.

In turn, Tajik Prime Minister Rasulzoda noted that the priority areas for the development of economic cooperation between the two countries are trade, industry, energy, transport, agriculture and education.
