A closed screening of Hell Grind, one of the world's first full-length feature films created entirely using artificial intelligence, took place at the Cannes Film Festival, Kursiv.kz reports.

The Higgsfield platform, on which the film was generated, was co-founded by Kazakh entrepreneur Erzat Dulat, and it was directed by Aitore Zholdaskali.

The 95-minute film was created in less than three weeks. According to the filmmakers, the project's budget was approximately $500,000, most of which was spent on computing power and post-production. The first 25 minutes of the film required over 16,000 AI generations.

The filmmakers note that a similar project would have cost tens of millions of dollars using traditional filmmaking. A team of ten people worked on the film, selecting the generated scenes, editing, and processing the sound.

The screening of Hell Grind sparked active discussion in the filmmaking community. Some experts call the project an important step in the development of independent cinema, while others doubt that films without actors can compete with traditional cinema in terms of story quality and audience engagement.
