F little less than 3 billion cubic meters of Russian gas are planned to be transported through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy, Almasadam Satkaliev said, Kazinform reports.
"We are talking about approximately 2.8 billion cubic meters of gas. These are preliminary volumes agreed upon based on Uzbekistan's requests. Speaking in general about our gas transport system, we have the capacity to receive Russian gas through other gas pipeline routes, which would allow us to cover any gas deficits with resources from Russia," Satkaliev stated in the corridors of Kazakhstan's Mazhilis (Parliament).
He also mentioned that Kazakhstan will receive an additional transit fee for the gas transported through the dedicated pipeline to Uzbekistan.
Minister Satkaliev further indicated the volume of gas expected to be transported to Uzbekistan via this pipeline in 2023.
"Right now, we are looking at how the situation will unfold, but we are considering the possibility of supplying no less than 800 million cubic meters," Satkaliev explained.
