The prospect of realizing the idea of a "triple gas union" of Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan depends on the conditions proposed by Moscow, said Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov. He also clarified whom the implementation of the gas consortium depends on, Eurasia.expert portal said in a statement.
“The creation of a gas union was a proposal from the Russian side, and so far it has not been formalized, we have not yet received any details and proposals from the Russian side in what form it will be implemented. So far, this is just an idea to integrate some processes of gas trade,” said Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov, Sputnik.Kazakhstan reports.
The deputy minister pointed out that so far there is no talk of creating a structure, organization or interstate union "in relation to gas." “It was just an idea for a settlement, for gas supplies and prices. There is a shortage of gas in all countries, so the Russian side came up with such a proposal,” he explained.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan, Zheldibai Sultanuly, said that during the negotiations between the Kazakh leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the creation of a “tripartite gas union” consisting of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was discussed, the purpose of which was to coordinate actions during the transportation of gas from the Russian Federation through the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak noted that the initiative has great potential, including for gas exports.
