Kazakhstan has become the world's third-largest tungsten producer following the launch of the Bogutinskoye deposit, whose reserves are estimated at 285,000 tons, Zakon.kz reports, citing the Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AMME) of Kazakhstan.

According to AMME, the development of the Bogutinskoye deposit alone has made Kazakhstan one of the world's largest suppliers of this raw material.

Last year, Kazakhstan exported tungsten ores and concentrates for the first time. The entire volume of these exports—3,700 tons—went to China, generating revenue of $71 million.

Comparing the volume of concentrate shipped from Kazakhstan in 2025 with the figures for 2024 in other countries (not all countries have yet reported for 2025), Kazakhstan has surpassed all suppliers except North Korea. Due to the country's isolation, ITC estimates its data based on mirror statistics.

Kazakhstan's significant share of the global tungsten market is confirmed by various sources. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Chinese analytical portal SunSirs, Kazakhstan is among the top three countries by tungsten production by the end of 2025, producing 2,400 tons of pure metal. China ranked first (67,000 tons), and Vietnam second (3,000 tons).

International experts believe that Kazakhstan's importance in the global tungsten market will increase in the near future with the support of American investors.
