Kazakhstan expands oil production from sea shelf

In the west of Kazakhstan, in the Caspian Magistown region, the launch of three major projects, one of which includes an oil production project is planned. Almost 3.6 trillion tenge will be invested in the implementation of new projects, the authorities of the region said, according to the LS portal.

The largest project for the region is the development of the Kalamkas-Sea, Khazar, Auezov fields with an investment of $6 billion. The total reserves of these fields are estimated at 81 million tons. Production, according to plans, will begin in 2028 and will amount to 4 million tons per year.

"Design work began this year. At the end of next year, the construction of offshore platforms from steel structures will begin. They will be located 64 km from the coast on the Kalamkas-Sea structure," the authorities of the Mangistown region explained.

The project provides for the participation of Kazakhstani shipyards and sites for the production of metal structures.

The second major investment project in the region is associated with the production of polypropylene, the third - with the construction of a metallurgical plant.

As a result of the implementation of all three projects, 4,000 permanent and 9,000 temporary jobs will be created during the construction period, the regional authorities said.
