Kazakhstan Increased Uranium Sales by 11%

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Meirzhan Yusupov, Chairman of the Board of JSC NAC Kazatomprom, and heard a report on the company's performance in 2025 and plans for the upcoming period, Kazinform reports.

Meirzhan Yusupov reported that last year's holding company production amounted to 25.8 thousand tons of uranium, of which the company accounted for 13.5 thousand tons. Sales increased by 11%, reaching 18.5 thousand tons. He also reported that Kazatomprom continues its systematic work on geological exploration and expanding the country's mineral resource base. A portfolio of six new promising uranium sites, covering a total area of ​​over 1,000 square kilometers, has been formed, and total investment in geological exploration through 2030 is planned at 75-85 billion tenge.

Meirzhan Yusupov presented information on social support for uranium mining regions. In 2025, the company allocated over 11 billion tenge for the socioeconomic development of the regions, including 6 billion tenge under contractual obligations. In accordance with its development strategy for 2025–2034, Kazatomprom is expanding its presence in new sales markets. In 2025, uranium supply contracts were signed with European energy companies AxpoPower AG (Switzerland) and ČEZ Group (Czech Republic), as well as with Japan's Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.

Work is currently underway to conclude a long-term contract for the supply of natural uranium concentrates to India. The company is strengthening its research and innovation efforts. A scientific and technological development strategy through 2034 has been developed, aimed at improving production efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and implementing advanced technologies.

The Chairman of the Management Board noted Kazatomprom's achievements as a public company. Since its IPO in 2018, the company's market capitalization has grown more than sevenfold.

The head of state issued a number of instructions on the further development of the resource base, expansion of international cooperation, and the implementation of social initiatives.
