Kazakhstan has received official authorization to export honey to European Union countries, the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture reports.

The ministry notes that this authorization is the result of years of effort.

"A large-scale effort was undertaken to develop and implement the National Residue Monitoring Plan for honey, which was a crucial step in including Kazakhstan on the list of countries authorized to export this product to the EU," the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture stated.

According to the ministry, in order to meet EU requirements, seminars, consultations, and inspections were conducted. The decision will take effect on the twentieth day after its publication in the official journal of the European Union.

Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan increased its imports of Russian honey nearly sixfold in 2024. While the country imported 283 tons of honey in 2023, this figure rose to 1,600 tons in 2024. Russia accounted for 98% of all honey imports.
