Kazakhstan has officially ratified the Agreement on the Procedure and Conditions for Eliminating Technical Barriers in Mutual Trade with Third Countries, Zakon.kz reports.
The decree on ratification was signed by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The ratification of the agreement is aimed at promoting domestic products to the markets of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The agreement defines the procedure and conditions for the elimination of technical barriers in the mutual trade of the EAEU member states with third countries in relation to products that are subject to the technical regulations of the union.
52 technical regulations of the EAEU have already been adopted, 45 of them have entered into force.
The agreement also provides for mutual recognition of the results of assessing the conformity of products with the requirements established in the EAEU and in the territory of a third country. At the same time, according to the document, the equivalence of the procedures for accreditation of conformity assessment bodies used in the Member States and in a third country should be ensured.
The agreement initially takes into account the requirements of the current legislation, in connection with which its ratification will not entail changes to the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On January 11, 2023, at the plenary session of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, the bill "On ratification of the Agreement on the procedure and conditions for the elimination of technical barriers in mutual trade with third countries" was approved in the first reading.
