Kazakhstan returned about $2 bln to state budget

The authorities of Kazakhstan returned about 860 billion tenge (more than $1.9 billion) of illegally withdrawn assets to state ownership in a year and a half. This was reported by the press service of the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev following his meeting with the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan Askhat Zhumagali.

"In general, over 1.5 years, a return to the budget and subjects of the quasi-public sector of property assets and funds in the amount of about 860 billion tenge was ensured," the report says.

In June 2022, Tokayev signed a decree on the creation of an interdepartmental commission that will deal with the return of funds illegally withdrawn by citizens of Kazakhstan abroad.
