The Chief Sanitary Doctor of Kazakhstan, Aizhan Esmagambetova, through an official resolution has recommended the use of masks due to the spread of coronavirus infection, measles, and various respiratory viral infections, Forbes.kz reports.

In the directive addressed to the heads of healthcare departments in regions, cities such as Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, and territorial departments of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee, instructions were given to ensure:

1. The use of medical masks by personnel and visitors in medical organizations, along with the availability of antiseptics.
2. Implementation of informational and explanatory work among the population regarding preventive measures for COVID-19, influenza, and acute respiratory infections.

Local executive and state authorities are recommended to advise the use of medical or fabric masks in places of mass gatherings: airports, railway stations, bus stations, markets, shopping and entertainment centers, department stores, theaters, cinemas, service centers, banks, and others; in all types of transportation (public transport, air, railway).

In the past few days, there have been reports of coronavirus cases identified in the Mazhilis (parliament) Speaker Erlan Kosanov and Presidential Advisor Kanat Bozumbaev.

The mask regime, introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, was lifted in Kazakhstan a year ago, at the end of January 2023.
