Kazakhstan strengthens control over compliance with migration legislation

The authorities in Kazakhstan are increasing control over compliance with migration legislation, with special attention to megacities, Ritmeurasia.ru reports.

In the largest city of the country, Almaty, during the past week, 276 foreigners were brought to administrative responsibility. Among them, 56 are citizens of countries from distant foreign regions, notably, 45 from African countries and 10 from Turkey.

Of the 220 citizens representing nearby countries, 154 are from Uzbekistan and 19 from Tajikistan. Additionally, 95 foreigners without identity documents have been placed in reception and distribution centers. These facts were reported by the head of the migration service department of Almaty, Asqat Butunchinov.

By court decisions, 104 foreigners have been deported from Kazakhstan, including 44 from Nigeria, 2 from Sierra Leone, 2 from Ghana, 1 from Benin, 41 from Uzbekistan, and 8 from Tajikistan.
