Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) signed a series of agreements with leading Japanese corporations during the state visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Japan, aimed at developing the production and supply of critical minerals, according to Kazakhstan’s investment portal.

The key agreement was signed with Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Japan Ltd. on the supply of gallium, a strategic metal widely used in the electronics, semiconductor, and defense industries. ERG stated that implementation of the project would enable Kazakhstan to rank second globally in terms of gallium production volumes.

The project предусматривает investments exceeding 12.5 billion tenge ($24.34 million), annual production of up to 15 tonnes of gallium, and the launch of commercial output in the third quarter of 2026. The metal extraction technology was developed in-house by ERG and is focused on producing high value-added products.

In addition, ERG signed memorandums of cooperation with Hitachi and Mitsui & Co., aimed at technological modernization and sustainable development projects. Experts note that the agreements strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in global supply chains for high-tech materials.
