First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar met with Chairman of the Management Committee of PJSC Gazprom Alexey Miller on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, according to a statement from the Government of Kazakhstan.
The talks focused on current and future areas of cooperation in the gas industry, including supply and transportation, processing, and infrastructure development. Special attention was given to strengthening energy security and building long-term partnerships.
Sklyar emphasized the strategic importance of cooperation with Gazprom and the need for coordinated efforts to ensure the sustainable development of energy markets in Central Asia and the Eurasian region. Miller, in turn, reaffirmed the Russian side’s interest in expanding bilateral projects.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was signed to increase Russian gas supplies to Kazakhstan in 2025–2026. In the first half of 2025 alone, Russia had already supplied gas worth $320.9 million to the country.
It should be recalled that in November 2024 the parties concluded an agreement on the processing and sale of gas from the Karachaganak field, and a year earlier signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
