Kazakhstan will temporarily ban the export of liquefied petroleum gas, propane and butane from May 14, 2025, Tengrinews.kz reports.

According to the explanation of the draft order of the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Erlan Akkenzhenov, posted on the Open NPA portal, the restriction will be in effect for six months. It applies to the transportation of petroleum products by road and rail.

“Impose a ban on the export from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan of liquefied petroleum gas (EAEU TN VED code 2711 12 970 0), propane (EAEU TN VED code 2711 12 940 0) and butane (EAEU TN VED code 2711 13 970 0) by road and rail for a period of six months,” the draft order of the department says.

It is noted that in early October 2024, former Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev reported that in some regions there was a shortage of liquefied gas at certain gas stations. According to him, the reasons for the shortage were the harvesting campaign and rains, due to which farmers needed additional resources to dry grain. However, he assured that there is no shortage of any type of petroleum product in the country.
