In Kazakhstan, the volume of gross agricultural output for the first 11 months of 2025 reached 9.2 trillion tenge (approximately USD 18 billion), a 6.1% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Aidarbek Saparov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Government of Kazakhstan’s press service reported the statement. This growth was achieved against a high base in 2024, when the physical output index already stood at 113%, underscoring the sector’s resilience and qualitative advancements.
“These figures reflect not merely recovery, but a real expansion of the agricultural sector’s production capacity,” the minister emphasized. “We are witnessing a shift from an extensive to a more intensive and diversified development model: output is growing alongside structural stability—driven by the expansion of high-value crop cultivation and technological modernization.”
Crop production was the main driver of growth, rising by 7.6% to 5.8 trillion tenge. Livestock output increased by 3.5%, reaching 3.3 trillion tenge. Improvements were noted in dairy and beef cattle farming, as well as a rise in sheep and goat herds in southern and western regions.
The minister highlighted the strong performance of oilseed and legume crops—key growth segments in 2025 that contributed significantly to both food security and export potential.
For the first time in the country’s history, the legume harvest exceeded 1.1 million tonnes:
— lentils: 842,000 tonnes (primarily in the Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Almaty regions),
— peas: 222,000 tonnes,
— chickpeas: 22,000 tonnes.
According to expert assessments, Kazakhstan has retained its position as one of the world’s largest lentil exporters, increasing shipments to India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asian countries.
The oilseed harvest totaled 4.8 million tonnes, including:
— sunflower: 2.3 million tonnes,
— flax: 1.4 million tonnes,
— rapeseed: 522,000 tonnes.
