ASTANA - Industrial production in Kazakhstan from January to May 2026 amounted to 27.9 trillion tenge (over $57 billion), an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period last year, Kazinform reports.
The industrial structure was almost equally divided between two key sectors: mining accounted for 46.1%, and manufacturing accounted for 46.5%. However, manufacturing was the main source of growth, increasing by 9%, while mining declined by 5.2%.
The most dynamic growth in the manufacturing industry was recorded in the production of finished metal products (+46.6%), pharmaceuticals (+26.6%), rubber and plastic products (+24.9%), mechanical engineering (+22.2%), and the food industry (+14.3%). Positive dynamics were also noted in the energy and water supply sectors, where growth ranged from 9% to 12%.
The decline in the mining sector was primarily due to a decrease in oil (-10.2%) and natural gas (-8.7%) production, which had a dampening effect on overall industrial output.
