Kazakhstan's manufacturing sector has shown a production growth rate of 105.2% since the beginning of 2024, said Kanat Sharlapayev, Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, at a government meeting, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
In the first four months of this year, the production volume reached 7.1 trillion tenge ($15.78 billion), with exports of manufactured goods amounting to $5.6 billion. Labor productivity was $52.7 thousand per person, Sharlapayev said.
Sharlapayev noted that 21 projects are planned to be launched in the metallurgical industry by the end of 2024. Investments in this sector will amount to about 464.2 billion tenge ($1.03 billion), creating 4,700 new jobs.
"Among them are the Kazakh steel pipe manufacturing plant TEMPO Kazakhstan in the Karaganda region and the project for the modernization of aluminum packaging production QazAlPack in the city of Shymkent," emphasized the head of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan.
The minister also mentioned plans to create 37 small industrial zones with a total area of 200 thousand square meters. Thirty billion tenge ($66.67 million) has already been allocated for the construction of production sites.
In total, 1.5 trillion tenge ($3.33 billion) is planned to be allocated in 2024 for the implementation of 180 projects for the production of various goods. These projects include the production of ceramic tiles and thermal insulation materials, truck parts, ferrosilicon, and tungsten concentrate.
