Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov held talks with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. Following these talks, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership and signed a joint statement on the further development of bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, Sadyr Japarov noted that his state visit to Islamabad last December gave new impetus to the political dialogue between the two countries. He stated that Kyrgyzstan views Pakistan as a key partner in South Asia and is interested in expanding cooperation in trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian spheres.
The leaders placed particular emphasis on developing economic ties. The Kyrgyz side proposed intensifying business forums, exhibitions, and B2B meetings, as well as expanding cooperation in the halal industry, agricultural processing, logistics, tourism, energy, and industry.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Islamabad's interest in deepening bilateral relations and noted the significant potential for increasing trade and mutual investment.
The visit is significant for Kyrgyzstan, as it reflects Bishkek's desire to diversify foreign economic ties and strengthen cooperation with South Asian countries. Pakistan represents a promising market for Kyrgyzstan, with a population of over 240 million people, and potential access to seaports via regional transport corridors. Expanding the partnership also aligns with the country's commitment to developing Central Asia-South Asia routes, increasing mutual trade, and implementing joint projects in energy, logistics, and food security.
