The topographic working groups of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan described more than 17 km of the border line between the two countries, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The next meeting of topographic working groups of government delegations of two states on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border was held from December 1 to December 6, 2022 in the city of Batken in southern Kyrgyzstan.

“During the meeting, the parties completed the design description of the passage of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border line with a total length of 17.66 kilometers and, in order to continue work, agreed on a schedule of meetings for 2023,” said a representative of the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.

"The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere and in the spirit of mutual understanding," the spokesman said.

It is planned that the next meeting of the parties will take place on the territory of Tajikistan. Negotiations have been held on a regular basis since the last major clash between the border guards of the two countries in April 2022. Then, dozens of servicemen and civilians living in the border zone were killed on both sides.

The length of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is 970 km, about a third of its length has not yet been agreed.
