Head of Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev announced at a government meeting that Kyrgyzstan’s consolidated budget for 2025 will exceed 1.1 trillion soms (≈ $12.9 billion). According to him, for the first time in the country’s history, the national budget has crossed the “one-trillion threshold.” The budget was initially approved at 708.8 billion soms (≈ $8.33 billion), but by the end of the year it is expected to grow by 381.7 billion soms (≈ $4.49 billion), a 153.8% increase, with a surplus of more than 10 billion soms (≈ $0.118 billion). The statement was released by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.
The minister also noted that the country’s GDP growth rate reached 10% over the first ten months of 2025. “According to the International Monetary Fund, in 2024 Kyrgyzstan ranked among the top three fastest-growing economies in the world in terms of real GDP growth,” he emphasized. The budget law projected GDP at 1.624 trillion soms (≈ $19.1 billion). In reality, the country reached 1.4274 trillion soms (≈ $16.8 billion) over ten months. The year-end GDP is forecast at 1.779 trillion soms (≈ $20.9 billion), meaning an additional 155.6 billion soms (≈ $1.83 billion) above initial estimates.
Furthermore, the National Bank reports that as of October 2025, Kyrgyzstan’s international reserves reached nearly $8 billion, an increase of more than $3 billion compared to October 2024.
Crossing this historic budget milestone and achieving robust GDP growth reflect Kyrgyzstan’s strengthening macroeconomic stability. Officials attribute the progress to rising budget revenues, improved tax administration, and increased investment inflows.
However, experts caution that dollar-based calculations are approximate, and the real purchasing power of the som depends on the exchange rate, inflation, and broader economic conditions. Stabilizing the currency and maintaining prudent fiscal policy will be key to further enhancing the country’s financial resilience.
