Kyrgyzstan significantly increased its exports to non-CIS countries by 2.9 times, reaching $868.9 million from January to August 2023. Exports to CIS countries also saw growth, rising by 2.5% to $981.9 million, the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan anoounced.
The increase in export of goods is mainly attributed to higher shipments of frozen fish (up 1.7 times), plastics and plastic products (up 1.9 times), coal (up 1.6 times), ore and precious metal concentrates (up 34.9%), bread and bakery products (up 22.5%).
Conversely, there was a decrease in export shipments of processed stone for monuments and construction (down 2.2 times), polished glass (down 2 times), dried legumes (down 1.7 times), cement, fruits, and nuts (down 30.9%), aluminum waste and scrap (down 23.6%), and cotton fiber (down 20.2%).
The largest volume of export shipments went to Russia, where Kyrgyzstan primarily supplied clothing, with an export value estimated at $47.5 million. Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan sent ore and precious metal concentrates worth $121.6 million to Kazakhstan and exported $14.4 million worth of dairy products. Exports to Turkey included $10.2 million of cotton fiber and $11.7 million of vegetables and fruits.
