Kyrgyzstan increases gold reserves by third

The gold reserves of Kyrgyzstan amount to 16.4 tons of gold. By the size of the reserve, Kyrgyzstan is in the TOP-100 largest countries holding this precious metal in gold and foreign exchange reserves, ranking 67th in the world. Such data was provided by the World Gold Council (WGC) in the rating published for the first quarter of 2023, Akchabar reports.

Such data for Kyrgyzstan in the WGC report are given in November 2022. As a result of this indicator, in the overall ranking in mid-2022, Kyrgyzstan ranked 68th in the list of the largest holders of gold.

The share of gold in the structure of gold and foreign exchange reserves (GFR) of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, according to WGC, is 36%. In mid-2022, the figure was 22.6%. For six months of 2023, Kyrgyzstan has increased its gold reserves in reserves by a third.

Among the countries neighboring Kyrgyzstan, only Tajikistan has less gold in reserves - 7.9 tons. Similar indicators for gold reserves are in Mongolia, 7.4 tons. Uzbekistan (381 tons) and Kazakhstan (332 tons) are among the twenty countries in the world in terms of gold reserves, China is the seventh in the world ranking of gold holders with 2068 tons, Russia is the sixth with 2326 tons of gold.

The World Gold Council was established in 1987 by the world's major gold producers to stimulate demand for the precious metal. Today, members of the council are companies that account for about 60% of global gold mining and production.
