The Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev, highlighted the critical role of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia's water policy during the National Water Forum focused on the protection of Lake Issyk-Kul and the sustainable use of water resources, as reported by Vesti.kg.
"Kyrgyzstan plays a central role in Central Asia's water policy, supplying neighboring countries with water and energy. To maintain regional stability, we must develop efficient water management, modernize infrastructure, and strengthen international cooperation. We do not want water to divide us. On the contrary, we see it as a bridge to cooperation. But such cooperation is only possible based on respect, equality, and recognition of each party's role," Torobaev emphasized.
He also pointed to the collaborative efforts of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan in the construction of the Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant as a strong example of uniting Central Asian countries to tackle regional challenges, paving the way for enhanced water-energy cooperation.
