Between January and May 2025, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade volume totaled $5.77 billion - down 14.4% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

The decline affected both exports and imports. Exports fell sharply by 27.2%, reaching $835.3 million, while imports decreased by 11.7%, totaling $4.94 billion. Imports continue to dominate the country’s trade structure, accounting for 85.5% of total trade turnover.

Trade with member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) also saw a contraction. Mutual trade with EAEU countries amounted to $1.86 billion, down 7.4% from January–May 2024. The most notable drop was in exports to EAEU markets, which fell by 29.8% to $359.5 million. Meanwhile, imports from the bloc slightly increased by 0.3%, totaling $1.5 billion.

Although the beginning of 2025 showed signs of recovery, the overall trade trend remains negative over the five-month period.
