Kyrgyzstan's international reserves reached historic high

Kyrgyzstan's gross international reserves reached a total of $3.236 billion in the end of 2023. This marks a historical maximum for modern Kyrgyzstan, according to information from the country's National Bank, Akchabar reports.

Prior to this, the highest reserves were recorded in September and October 2021, reaching $3.1528 billion and $3.0644 billion, respectively.

For comparison, in December 2022, this indicator was $2.798 billion. Since then, international reserves have increased by $438 million. The liquid part of the reserves, as of December 2023, exceeded $3.160 billion compared to $2.718 billion in the same month of 2022.

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan uses reserves to maintain the purchasing power of the national currency, price stability, financial stability, and to service the country's obligations in foreign currency.
