Kyrgyzstan’s economy is showing a confident shift toward the production sector. According to preliminary data, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 573.1 billion soms ($6.55 billion) in January–May 2025, which is 12.3% higher compared to the same period last year, Akchabar.kg reports, citing the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

Although the services sector continues to hold the largest share of GDP at 52.9%, its share has begun to decline - by 0.8 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024. At the same time, the share of goods-producing sectors increased from 28.1% to 30.5% (+2.4 p.p.), indicating a revival in industrial production, construction, and other real sectors of the economy.

The highest growth was recorded in the construction industry, which expanded by 48.3%, increasing its share of GDP to 6.6%. Industry as a whole also strengthened significantly, growing by 14.1% and accounting for 19.1% of GDP. Within this, the manufacturing sector stood out with a 15.6% increase year-on-year, reaching a 14.3% share.

Agriculture showed more modest growth of only 3%, with its share in GDP falling to 4.8%.

Despite the declining weight of the services sector in GDP, it also demonstrated positive dynamics: up 9.2% compared to January–May 2024. Notable growth was seen in the hospitality and restaurant sector - up 43.3%, and in trade - up 18.1%, reflecting rising domestic demand and continued expansion of service industries.

The data points to a gradual structural transformation of Kyrgyzstan’s economy toward greater diversification and strengthening of the real sector. If current trends continue, the country may further solidify the foundations for sustainable economic growth and reduce its reliance on services.
