Ashgabat and Seoul discuss new projects and jpening of direct flights

The issues of strengthening technological cooperation with Turkmenistan were discussed by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea Park Sang-woo in Ashgabat, Orient.tm reports.

The purpose of the visit was to facilitate the participation of Korean companies in large construction projects in Turkmenistan and discuss the prospects for partnership in the field of smart cities and transport.

During the visit, Minister Park met with Deputy Prime Minister for Construction and Industry of Turkmenistan Baymyrat Annamammedov. The parties discussed the possibility of participation of Korean companies in projects for the construction of new plants. The Minister emphasized that Korean companies have high technologies and are ready to actively support the development of industrial projects.

The Minister confirmed his readiness to cooperate in the field of smart cities, based on the previously signed Memorandum with the Turkmen capital, and stated the desire of Korean businesses to participate in the construction of Ashgabat City.

Park also met with Deputy Prime Minister for Oil and Gas Batyr Amanov to reach a consensus on launching new joint projects, including at the upcoming Korea-Central Asia Summit in 2025. During the meeting, Amanov invited Park to the Turkmenistan Oil and Gas Forum, noting that the country is implementing reforms to attract foreign investment.

He expressed hope for the opening of a new direct passenger route between the two countries next year, which should help strengthen people-to-people ties, the Korean ministry said in a report.

Minister Park also emphasized the possibilities of using Korean technologies to modernize railway infrastructure and support ICT and intelligent systems projects. He reaffirmed Korea's readiness to actively participate in the implementation of major projects, including the construction of a gas plant based on Turkmenistan's rich natural resources.
