Main volume of imports to Tajikistan provides by Russia

The volume of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia from January to October 2023 amounted to $1.35 billion, most of this amount was imports amounting to about $1.24 billion. Russia provided more than a quarter of all goods supplied to Tajikistan, according to the report of the statistics agency under the President of Tajikistan, TASS reports.

"Imports were carried out mainly from the following countries: Russia - 26.6% of total imports, China - 20.9%, Kazakhstan - 15.3%, Uzbekistan - 5.9%, USA - 4.1%, Germany and Japan 3.5% each, Turkey - 3.4%, Iran - 2.6%, Republic of Korea - 2.2%, India and Belarus - 1.5% each, Pakistan - 1.0%, etc." - says the text of the report.

Compared to January-October 2022, trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan decreased by 2.1%, but Russia retained first place in terms of trade volume with Tajikistan among all foreign countries with which the republic has economic relations. China ranks second in terms of trade volumes with Tajikistan - over 10 months, trade turnover amounted to about $1.2 billion, which is 14% more than in the same period in 2022.

At the same time, Switzerland became the main export partner from Tajikistan following the results of 10 months. In 2023, the largest volume of supplies from Tajikistan came from Kazakhstan, which is now in second place. "The main partners for the export of goods were: Switzerland - 29.9% of total exports of goods, Kazakhstan - 14.8%, China - 14.6%, Uzbekistan - 8.8%, Turkey - 8.5%, Russia - 7 .5%, Afghanistan - 5.8%, Iran - 4.9%, UAE - 1.1% and others,” the report says.

The volume of exports to Switzerland for 10 months is estimated at $455.9 million, and in general, Tajikistan’s trade turnover with this country increased from January to October by 1.6 times compared to the same period in 2022.
