Major hydropower projects clarified in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is implementing 8 projects for the construction and reconstruction of hydroelectric power plants, the press service of the National Energy Holding of Kyrgyzstan said.

Thanks to the policy of the current leadership of Kyrgyzstan, conditions have been created for the construction of small hydropower plants, such as the construction of a small hydropower plant on the Kok-Art River in the Jalal-Abad region. At this moment, active work is underway there to build dams on the river, the energy holding says.

In the Talas region, the construction of the Balasaru HPP with a capacity of 25 MW is underway, and in the Naryn region, the Kulanak HPP with a capacity of 100 MW is being built.

"A tender has been announced for the construction of the Kambarata HPP-2, with a capacity of 150 MW. Preparations are underway for the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1, roads, bridges, power lines are being built to carry out the construction of the HPP," the report says.

Earlier it was announced that the At-Bashi and Uch-Korgon HPPs, as well as one unit of the Toktogul HPP, are being reconstructed in Kyrgyzstan.
