More than $1.3 bln to return to state ownership in Kazakhstan

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, who reported on the measures taken to combat corruption in the country and return capital, Vlast.kz reports.

For 11 months of 2022, the return to the state of illegally acquired property assets and funds in the amount of more than 600 billion tenge was ensured, Bektenov said at the meeting.

In addition, real estate, cars and funds totaling over 360 billion tenge have been installed in the country and abroad and will soon be returned to the state.

Money in criminal cases investigated by the anti-corruption service is already being directed to the construction of schools, Bektenov added. So, in the framework of the criminal case against the Aktobe SEC, the perpetrators compensated the damage for 197 million tenge. The main part of this sum is aimed at completing the construction of a rural school.

The head of the anti-corruption service of Kazakhstan also reported that an external analysis of the areas of transport control, subsoil use, the state defense order, as well as the activities of the migration service, social and entrepreneurial corporations and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC was completed. As a result of the analysis, more than 2,000 proposals were prepared to eliminate corruption risks.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to continue work to minimize the level of corruption in the country.
