The representative of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan explained that on October 23, a new conference hall of the Peacekeeping Operations Center of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan was opened in Almaty. The opening ceremony was attended by the U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Daniel Rosenblum, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan announced.

"The Center has been operating since 2006 as an educational institution aimed at developing the peacekeeping component of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan," the statement says.

Earlier, several information sources in the region reported that "NATO's Peacekeeping Operations Center has started its operations in Kazakhstan. The center's opening ceremony was attended by the U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Daniel Rosenblum, as reported by Kazakh media."

According to the agreements, the Kazakh military will undergo training at the center according to NATO standards.

The relationship between Kazakhstan and NATO is based on the Partnership for Peace framework document and the bilateral military cooperation program between the parties, signed in 1994. Relations between the parties were established even earlier - in 1992, when Kazakhstan joined the North Atlantic Cooperation Council (since 1997, the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council).

Since 2007, the NATO Defense Education Improvement Program (DEEP) has been operating in Kazakhstan together with the Kazakhstan National Defense University.
