Due to the outflow of Russians from their country in 2022, almost 300 thousand relocators still remain in Kazakhstan, said Ilyas Spanov, Acting Chairman of the Committee on Migration of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan.
He reported statistical data on the migration of Russian citizens to Kazakhstan, Kazinform reports.
“Since the beginning of the year, about 3 million Russians have arrived in Kazakhstan, and about the same number have left. Since the announcement of partial mobilization, 837 thousand arrived in our country, 780 thousand left. Today, there are 298,000 Russians in the country, of which 30,000 work in accordance with contracts, are registered with HR at the labor exchange,” said Ilyas Spaninov at a media briefing.
“There are about 20 thousand students who study in Kazakhstan, and there are also people who come to us and fly away in transit. Since September 21, 198,000 Russians have used our country as a transit country and left for the country they planned to go to,” Spaninov added.
The outflow of Russians from their country has increased dramatically due to the mobilization announced in September 2022. More than a million Russians have left for countries bordering Russia. Many Russians who migrated to Central Asia settled in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan and started their own businesses.
After the Russian authorities announced the suspension of mobilization, many Russians returned to their homes. However, many Russians have decided to stay outside of Russia, including in Kazakhstan.
