In January 2025, Kyrgyz citizens transferred $22.9 million abroad through money transfer systems, according to data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, Akchabar.kg reports.
The majority of these funds - $18 million (or 78.6% of the total) - were sent to Russia. The remaining amount was transferred to Turkey ($2.7 million), Kazakhstan ($900,000), the United States ($100,000), and other countries in both near and distant regions.
Compared to January 2024, the outflow of personal funds through fast transfer systems decreased by 2.5 times, from $56.4 million. This decline is primarily attributed to a sharp reduction in transfers to Russia, which previously accounted for $52.8 million.
