Pakistan has claimed that the TTP launched 22 attacks from Afghanistan’s soil over a two-week period, raising concerns over cross-border militant activity and regional securityб reports Khaama.com.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent a letter to the Taliban Embassy in Islamabad, stating that TTP militants launched at least 22 terrorist attacks from Afghanistan’s soil between June 16 and June 30, 2024.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a list of these attacks to the Taliban Embassy on July 24, 2024, requesting the Taliban to take measures to prevent such incidents from occurring again.
According to the list, TTP militants carried out attacks in various regions of Pakistan, including North and South Waziristan, Khyber, Kurram, Bannu, Orakzai, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and Bajaur.
The Pakistani government has stated that these militants are affiliated with groups led by Hakimullah Mehsud, Hafiz Gul Bahadur, and Alam Khan, who are reportedly based in Afghanistan’s Paktika, Khost, and Nangarhar provinces.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of sheltering TTP commanders in Afghanistan, with the claim that TTP militants use country’s territory to carry out attacks in Pakistan. However, the Taliban has denied these allegations.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claim that Pakistan is breaching Afghanistan’s airspace and attacking Paktika, where over 45 people, including women and children, were killed.
Recently, attacks by militants, including the TTP, have increased in Pakistan, with both security personnel and civilians being targeted. These attacks have intensified, causing widespread concern over the growing insecurity in the region.
The ongoing cross-border attacks between Pakistan and Afghanistan have raised concerns over the security situation in the region. Despite the Taliban’s denials, tensions remain high, with both nations calling for more effective measures to ensure border security. According to experts, addressing this issue will require stronger cooperation between Pakistan and the Afghanistan to prevent further violence.
