Passenger turnover in Kyrgyzstan in 2022 increased by 15% and exceeded 10 billion passenger-kilometers. Such data are provided by the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, reports Economist.KG.

For the year, passenger turnover by all modes of transport amounted to 10 billion 454 million passenger-kilometers. This is 46% more passenger traffic in 2020.

At the same time, the total passenger turnover in Kyrgyzstan has not yet returned to the pre-pandemic level. In 2018, the figure was 12.5 billion passenger-kilometers, in 2019 - 13 billion.

At the same time, for certain types of transport, the level of transportation has recovered. Air passenger traffic — over 2 billion passenger-kilometres — exceeded 2019 levels but was below 2018 levels. Transportation in taxis set a five-year record - 844 million passenger-kilometers. Restored pre-pandemic value and transportation in trolleybuses.

The development of passenger transport in Kyrgyzstan is hindered by transportation in buses and by rail. Largely due to the decline in cross-border ground travel.
