Production of industrial products in Tajikistan increased

In the first half of 2024, Tajikistan increased the volume of industrial production by 11.5%, reports Asiaplustj.info.

This was announced at a press conference on August 1 by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, Sherali Kabir.

In terms of industrial growth, Tajikistan ranked 2nd in the CIS this time, losing the lead to Armenia, where production grew by more than 22%. In the past two years, Tajikistan led in this indicator among CIS countries.

Overall, the volume of industrial production in the republic for the first 6 months amounted to 22.6 billion somoni (about $2 billion), which is 2.3 billion somoni more than in the same period last year.

More than 57% of the total industrial output comes from the manufacturing industry, 21.6% from the mining industry, 20.8% from the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, and 0.5% from water supply and waste processing.

The growth in industry was driven by an increase in the production of petroleum products (by 2.2 times), wood and paper products (by 81%), metal products (by 18.1%), textile and leather products (by 17.8%), rubber and plastic products (by 16.4%), and food products (by 8.1%).

According to Sherali Kabir, in the first half of the year, investments in Tajikistan's industry amounted to 4.42 billion somoni, of which 3.19 billion somoni were directed to the energy sector, 616.5 million somoni to the manufacturing industry, and 423 million somoni to the mining industry. Additionally, the minister reported that 251 new enterprises were created in Tajikistan in the first six months of this year.
