Rahmon and Macron held talks in Nice

During his visit to Nice for the third UN Ocean Conference, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with French President Emmanuel Macron on June 9, Asiaplus.tj reports.

The meeting discussed current issues and future prospects for bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and France, the press service of the President of Tajikistan reports.

Emmanuel Macron expressed gratitude to the Tajik leader for participating in international events in Nice and emphasized the important role of Tajikistan in global water and climate initiatives.

The French President also congratulated Tajikistan on the successful holding of the first International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation in Dushanbe.

The meeting discussed issues of deepening cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, industry, agriculture, as well as in attracting investment, technology and processing of minerals.

The importance of strengthening cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian, scientific and educational fields, as well as in tourism, was confirmed.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, which are an important part of bilateral relations, the report notes.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the current state of partnership within international organizations, primarily the UN.

Emphasis was also placed on cooperation in the field of climate change and its impact on the environment, within the framework of the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences for 2025–2034.

The two leaders noted the similarity of their views on regional and global security issues, especially in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

At the end of the meeting, Emomali Rahmon invited Emmanuel Macron on an official visit to Tajikistan.
